An Introduction to Quartz

All members of the Quartz family contain silicon dioxide. Its unique helical spiral form and piezo-electric properties makes Quartz the most efficient receptor for programming, and perfect for healing of all kinds, including Reiki, Acupuncture, Crystal Gridding and more. This has lead to Clear Quartz being named the Master Healer.

Quartz resonates with the frequencies of the silica in our body. This helps to energize, harmonize and balance human energies, restoring and sustaining wellness on all levels.

Quartz is one of the best examples of crystal application in modern science. For centuries Clear Quartz has been used in watches, because its piezo-electric effect creates incredibly accurate timekeeping. It is also used in computers and other electronics because it absorbs, stores and sends out energy, acting as a natural memory vault.

Macrocrystalline quartz

• Clear quartz: clear with little to no inclusions

• Amethyst: pale violet to deep purple

• Citrine: clear or golden yellow to honey and smoky tones

Macrocrystalline quartz forms within veins that are partially filled with silica. Clear and Smoky Quartz, as well as Amethyst, can grow to several hundred pounds, usually taking shape as a six-sided form with a single termination point.

Microcrystalline Quartz

• Aventurine: usually green or red, with iridescent mica

• Chalcedony: white, blue or grey

• Chrysoprase: opaque apple green

• Bloodstone: opaque dark green, sometimes mixed with red jasper

• Jasper: opaque chalcedony with a wide variety of colors and patterns

• Carnelian: translucent red, orange or yellow

• Moss agate: translucent milky white with moss-like inclusions

• Tiger's eye: light and dark brown with gold-yellow flash

• Agate: translucent form of chalcedony, which often forms in concentric bands within volcanic rock

Microcrystalline Quartz generally forms nearer to the earth’s surface, under lower pressure. Tiny silicon-based crystals mass together, forming with less clarity and shine than their Macrocrystalline cousins.
