An Introduction to Aventurine
Aventurine is a member of the Quartz family. Within it’s silicon dioxide base, are added colorful minerals and specks of mica, that create the sparkling effect that has become known as "aventurescence." The name Aventurine references an Italian glass style that was discovered “a ventura” - by chance - where copper deposits, suspended in the glass, created the same iridescent sparkle of this gemstone.
Green is the most common color for Aventurine, with is hue coming from Fuschite inclusions. Hematite inclusions create the less common Red variety, while Blue Aventurine includes copper. All colors of Aventurine are most commonly found in India and Brazil.
