Fluorite is a soft stone, with a beautiful shine once polished. This incredibly popular gemstone is sometimes called “the most colorful mineral in the world.” It exists in a range of colors, including violet, pale blue, green and yellow, often with multiple colors occurring all together.
Beyond its color variety, it also boasts a special glow. The term “fluorescent” was inspired by this gem, being one of the first fluorescent minerals ever studied. It is frequently fluorescent under ultraviolet light, due to impurities, such as rare earth minerals or volatile hydrocarbons, within the crystal lattice."
